Waveney & Blyth Arts 2019 Bugs and Blossoms Launch Weekend
Imagine a world without wild flowers or insects. Where summer days don’t resonate with the buzz of bees or dazzle with a butterfly wing; where a myriad of flowers, and the meadows where they bloomed, are wiped from our countryside.
Our native insects and plants are in catastrophic decline. Recent reports have shown how many species are disappearing. Our children will not have the rich and diverse landscapes of their parents and grandparents’ generations, nor the vocabulary that goes with them. We are losing the intricate mix of species that gave the natural world such richness and inspired poets, artists and writers.
It is time for action – in our gardens, on our commons and greens, in school grounds and churchyards, on farmland and in parks.
This year Waveney & Blyth Arts launches Bugs and Blossoms using the creative arts to
celebrate our native insects and plants but also to inspire people to notice what we have, understand what we are losing, and take action. This is not just an arts project to provide paintings and poems. This is a call for action along our two river valleys.
Bugs and Blossoms launches on 24th May 2019 at a special weekend in and around Palgrave. Join us at Palgrave Community Centre for some, or all, of our launch programme.
