A Community Art and Renovation Project

  • “Out Of The Box” is a community project – your ideas and helping hands will bring it to life.

  • Together, we can transform a neglected village landmark into a vibrant piece of living art.

  • We need your help and support to create a lasting focal point for Palgrave.

  • All ages welcome – from sanding and painting to sketching and storytelling.

  • Schoolchildren will design the colourful glass panels, creating art for everyone to enjoy.

  • Share your creative ideas for how the phone box can be used as a living art space.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Volunteer your time – help us restore, sand, and paint

  • Be creative – share your suggestions for the phone box as a living art space

  • Support the children’s designs – celebrate their glass panel artworks

  • Spread the word – invite neighbours and friends to join

This is a project for everyone, and every contribution will help transform the red phone box into a lasting piece of community art for Palgrave.

A SHORT HISTORY

Designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the K6 kiosk was commissioned to commemorate King George V’s

Silver Jubilee. Its elegant cast-iron form, domed roof, and panelled glazing are celebrated features of British

industrial design. The kiosk is a symbol of British civic identity and has become a heritage asset valued by both

local communities and visitors.
